Hype Around Net Neutrality

Lately as I have been browsing through social media, I keep seeing the mention of net neutrality. On Instagram lots of large account have been posting about it, and it is also mentioned quite a lot in the featured Snapchat stories. This has led me to wonder more about what net neutrality is and why it's such a big deal right now. On Snapchat, I have read a little bit about it but not enough to fully understand it. Essentially what net neutrality ensures is that internet service providers give all sites equal speeds and don't favor certain sites over others. It seems as if this would be fair, but arguably some sites with more traffic might benefit from faster speeds. This has stirred quite a controversy, because the changes in net neutrality could somehow cost users money. Because I didn't fully understand this I decided to do some research, because it seems as if this whole net neutrality thing could affect me directly. A quick google search led me to some findings, I rea...

Guerilla Advertising in Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Image
Last weekend on the drive back from Santa Cruz, my Dad and I stopped at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. While we were there to get a filling meal on the long drive home, I had to use the restroom. If you have ever been to Five Guys, you will know about all the little pictures from articles and awards that are hanging from the walls. Things such as "voted best burger" and "winner of best place to stop for a burger and fries," decorate the walls all throughout the fast food chain. Here are a few more examples: While this bombardment of advertising is posted throughout the store, I didn't expect to see the same stuff throughout the bathroom! This unique attempt to "break through the clutter" of all the burger advertising is certainly different than other types of advertising. Even though this form of Guerilla advertising stands out, I think it is just another contribution to the clutter and less of something that is seperate. However, while many a...

In the past, Nike has made plenty of short films telling little fictional soccer stories, these include videos such as  Winner Stays , which was released in 2014 prior to the World Cup in part as an advertisement for its new shoes and to inspire players that they can be their idols by simply wearing nikes. Recently, Nike released a new film titled: "Ronaldinho's message to football." Today I remembered the old Winner Stays film that came shortly before the World Cup and wondered if Nike has made anything similar recently, which led me to the newest clip from Nike.  This new clip features players such as Neymar and Ronaldinho who are well known for their flashy bits of skill, and arguably make the game so beautiful. The entire message is to be creative like these players, in the clip above it is quite clear that part of their success on the pitch is because of their enjoyment of game displayed with their creativity on the ball. Nike encourages its players to ...

Trumps Tax Plan Speech Is Quite Good, Believe M

While watching the start of the speech from President Trump I Couldn't help but notice the English language crimes Orwell mentioned in his works decades ago. But more on that in a second, as soon as Trump came on he had some cheesy "America is Great" music playing as he walked on as if he was some sort of American savior or something of that sort, what a joke. Anyways, within the first two minutes of the speech Trump said a myriad of different vague phrases that had connatitive meanings and no concrete meaning. For example, "I told you we would be saying merry Christmas again, right? And it's great to be back in Missouri, sign of a lot of good things because you are doing really well..." and the crowd on to cheer for who knows why. That whole sentence said nothing at all it was just some phrases stuck together to sound positive, exactly like Orwell described. In addition, it was in political speech, which was exactly where Orwell said these English language ...

Ric Flair Drip

This weekend I had a soccer tournament with the school team so I missed school Friday and also has games all Sunday. Shortly after we arrived Friday, we were watching a game before our warm ups, when a team began to warm up near by while blasting music out of a speaker. Several of the players were singing along and the song sounded kind of good so I had to check it out myself. I listened once and I wasn't the biggest fan, but I gave it a few more listens and it just started to grow on me. The track is called Rick Flair Drip, and it's from Metro Boomin's album without warning. The track featuring Offset is quite catchy, the beat just makes you want to get pumped up and excited! In addition, the chorus is easy to pick up and also very catchy as well. After a few listens I couldn't help but sing along. By any chance if you want to listen or look at the lyrics, those are both linked below. Click Here for the lyrics Click Here for the audio P.S. Starace I'm not quite ...
